Of course, but in this particular case this was a Novell 2.x network... and I've never seen it be able to use .vlm; maybe it can, but I surely wasn't interested in trying it out. The software on that server is heavy legacy, and is still in use just for checking of the converted data; once they approve it, it will be submitted to euthanasia, starting with Fdisk.
