SDF does mean fixed length but the spaces occur from the SQL TO FILE
statement. The COPY TO command omits the spaces. I asked our Oracle
people and the same thing occurs with them. The difference being is that
they can issue a command before he SQL statement to rid themselves of the spaces. Is there anything is VFP that can do the same is the question.

When handing off these files to other sources, the spaces can cause havoc for instance with a SAS programmer.
