Maybe this would be easier to figure out if I just started from scratch:

I've got a form that was generated by the Form Wizard. It's a simple form for entering/browsing/editing data from one table. The fields are accessible only after I click the Edit button, and become inaccessible again after I click either Save or Revert.

I want to add a field to the form that will act as a search field. This field should be accessible opposite of every other field in the form, meaning I can enter information into it when I'm in browse mode, but not when I'm in edit mode. After entering information into this field, I want it to be able to search the table for that particular part number, then refresh the screen to show that part's information.

Easier to to this from scratch rather than trying to fix what I've already surely screwed up? :)

Thanks!

John
