I have a client running VisionPoint accounting (VFP 6) who is intermittently getting the seek offset error when attempting to print large check or statement runs. All index files were removed, re-created and all temp files were deleted.
It appears to only happen at the end of longer print runs, namely A/R statements and P/R checks. Sometimes the error appears before the user is asked if they want to reprint any checks, other times it appears after. If they print checks in batches of 3 or 4, it works fine, if they attempt to do the entire run of 20+ they get the error.... sometimes.
This started last month when a new Dell 2003 server, a new Dell workstation and a new Dell 5200M laser were installed on their network. All Ethernet cabling has been upgraded and they have a new hub. Prior to yesterday, the problem only appeared on the new workstation. Yesterday, the new workstation would not fail (after 9 checkruns) and a different workstation started having the problem. The problem is that it's intermittent which makes it really tough to nail down.
The fact this only occurs during printing operations makes me believe that it's somehow tied to the printer. The hardware people were there with me all day yesterday and tried every conceivable change that made any sense.
This is my second experience with Dell's 5200 laser and the first install also has similar problems. Anyone else have issues with this printer?
Thanks!
