Hello,
you can use both. ADO is just a higher level wrapper around OLEDB.
In the end it depends what SQL Backend you want to communicate with ..
but for the most common DBMS's there are both ODBC and OLEDB drivers available.
ODBC is a bit faster (not much though) and easier to use in my opinion.
