There's no way to know for sure that something physically printed on a priner. The best way to handle this situation is to print the checks, and then pop up a dialog box that says "Did the checks print okay?". If the user says no, give them the opportunity to repeat all or some of the checks and reenter a new check number as the starting point.
This puts the burden on the user to tell the application that the checks printed okay!!

>I have a client who prints checks to an HP laser. 99% of the time all goes as planned. Every now and then a group of checks will be sent to the printer, the accounting program believes the checks have printed, no errors appear on the screen, but they physcially never print. From that point on, the check numbers are off until someone catches the problem.
