I am responsible for maintaing a Goldmine 6.5 installation which uses dbase iv dbfs. Some of the changes I make I do programmatically with the ODBC driver. but If I open the files in vfp the structure gets changed and its a mess.

I need a better way to do adhoc changes.
I tried dbfviewer2000 an br4.exe and there is another utility called br4.exe, but they are all pretty klunky.
I just downloaded a 30 trial version of the new 'dbase' from dbase.com. does the trick but it's 679 dollars to go live.. a lot of money for an app I only have to maintain once every few months. I just placed a bid on ebay for an original copy of dbase iv version 1.1 - for $12.

does anyone know of any other solutions, or other ways to get a hold of dbase iv in case i don't win the bid.
