>Well it may not eliminate the spread totally, but if prostitution would stop, that would eliminate one way AIDS is spread.
I would also like to see prostitution vanish. In my book, sex becomes perverse the moment it's mentioned in the same sentence with money. It's becomes more or less a power play, a master-servant relationship, and I really pity the people who find pleasure in that, who can't stand their partner as an equal.
How do you propose to make prostitution vanish? My guess is that the only effective way is something open-source, i.e. nobody would pay for what they can have for free. That would require a total rebuild of the current morale, of course - lifting many of the bans that have accumulated during the last 2000+ years. You had a nice try in that area here, during the late sixties, but it petered out with the onslaught of the rightwing revenge.
So you have a respectable percentage of people who can't have sex freely (in both meanings - as in "without social constraints" and "no payment required"), so they're resorting to find on the market what they lack in their social life. What's your plan for them?
>So lets use the money that can help the innocent victims (and there are plenty of them) to help someone who volunteerly and willingly participated in ricky activity.
Being a medical technician is a risky activity. Just one wrong cut, and through your rubber glove there comes the HIV virus. And you know it in advance, and you willingly participate in it. Even get paid for that... just like a prostitute does.
