if you rowsource, instead of additem to list controls, you loose the ability to drag and drop. >
Incorrect. The VFP 3 CodeBook and Jayesh Patel's .NET mover both demonstrate drag and drop capability, and both use binding. In this case you would have to append a record to the rowsource and then refresh - since I don't use binding except for short list gridss - I never user refresh - but that does eat clock - and it's only something you can do in VFP - are you binding to cursors with other GUI tool products?
Rick's a big boy, he can defend himself very well on his own - I just think it's astounding that you would pass a judgement on Rick's knowledge, given your grasp of certain facts. It wasn't the first time I have heard Rick misrepresent the utility of that OCX (and there have been others). This time I had to say someting. The best way to make a prospect a customer is shoot straight or not shoot at all.
But if you're actually serious about what you say, then you really need to learn how to frame your arguments better.I realize that - been a busy week and I get really wound up. I have nothing against Rick and owe him a lot (he has published a bunch of useable information). But he should have refrained from misrepresenting the utility of the Inet control.
I agree - I am almost to the point that I am beginning to beleive that my projects weren't that much more difficult without a "forum" subscription - and recently, I had to fight an uphill to get my foxISAPI project kicking and was totally nay-sayed here - maybe I'll do us all a favor!
Sometimes - no matter how cool a 3rd party tool is - when it wont work for us - it won't work - and I speak for a few at least, when I say the satisfaction of rolliong your own beats downloading someone elses wether it be a freebe or not!
But I am aware of my temprament - it's usually contained and I apologize for any rudeness.
