>>>Katy and I have been married for over 39 years. I think I have waited for about 38 of those years! When Katy says, "Just a second", I know it will be twenty minutes. If she says, "Just a minute", then I am in serious trouble"! :)

>>Now wait (pun intended) a minute! Isn't there the "programmers' law of time estimates" which says "multiply with two and express in next larger unit"? IOW, if a programmer mentions two hours, that would mean four days; "three days" would mean "six weeks" etc.

>Now that is one I have not heard! I always double my original estimate but have never considered the next power of ten! Wow! That is a great idea which I will implement immediately! This seems to be standard procedure for a woman. Thank you for pointing out the obvious.
Except that we still don't have the decimal time units, so the factor for "just a second" and "just a minute" would be 120, for "just an hour" would be 48, for "tomorrow" would be 14, "next week" would be 8 or 9 (depending how many weeks two months have), "next month" 24... and the decimal begins only with "next year" which would convert into "in two decades".
