I think the best way would be to wait for the SQL 2005 Express (2005 MSDE). They have gotten rid of most of the governor and increased the database size limit to 4GB. I have shied away from using any other SQL version than the Standard edition or Enterprise, there are always gotchas in the other versions, plus slipstreaming the MSDE into setup projects have always being a pain.
