I have been asked to write an utility in VFP 5.0 to perform data maintenance on tables being acccessed by a FPW 2.6 application. This is a multi-user program being used twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

This may seem like a stupid question, but can anyone think of a way to PACK tables, PACK MEMOs and re-create index tags without getting EXCLUSIVE use of the tables?

I am aware of a way to build an application where forms are going against offline views using the new CREATEOFFLINE() function. In such a scenario, data maintenance can be performed while users are working off-line. I am also aware that offline views can be based on FPW 2.6 tables without modifying the table headers. Unfortunately, my client is not prepared to re-write this gargantuan legacy application at the present time.

Any suggestions?
