>I will repeat for the umpteenth time. I am not bashing VFP, I work with VFP, I make my living with VFP, I love VFP, its a sweet development language; however, that doesn't change the fact that its the red-haired step-child of Microsoft and will never have the push that .Net does or will.

We've been taken that for granted for a couple of years now. We agree.

>The only thing the PA crew has said over and over again, is that if you want to keep current in the software development market, you should expand your skillset into .Net. Period. That's all. Please don't infer, refer, read into, read between the lines, etc. If I didn't say it in black and white, I didn't say it.

I can't see that. What does the number of developers and MS push say over the quality of the products developed with that tool? What does it say about your income made with that tool? I've been saying over and over again, that the relation you draw is a very, very simplistic relation and misses the deep analysis needed to draw any conclusion on the fact we agree upon. As long as VFP keeps up to be a productive and efficient platform to develop my applications there is no need to look out of the box just for the sake of MS not pushing VFP.

The world of software development is not about MS. In fact MS's market share (in both numbers of developers and money) of all software development done on the globe might be far less than you ever imagined. It might be shocking to you, but there is healthy programming life outside the .NET box.
