George, Thanks for your reply. The second suggestion works fine! I tried some non true-type printer fonts, they printed quicker but still not as quick as draft mode. I created a second instance of the printer as you suggested, and it worked great, it printed in draft mode automatically.
Thanks again, that is definitely the solution I was looking for.
