Michel and to all interested UT'ers;

There are many VFP forums. Who needs them? Well each has its place and tends to attract individuals with specific needs and personalities. The UT has been about community for many years. You need or can give help and chat a bit. We have had a few persons with egos (super ego for those that appreciate Freud – hay man – its all about ME!).

There are and have been a few persons who have created incidents on the UT and this has caused some members to quit this forum. This can be a difficult problem as it is very complex. There has to be a rational balance to resolve issues that confront the UT.

I think the possibility of fractionalizing the UT exists. An example would be:

1. One group that taunts and insults others for the technology they use or do not use.

2. A group that acts against group 1. above and alerts the UT management on each and every occasion of any perceived transgression.

3. Feel free to create your own list.

My personal preference is to avoid discussions that become insulting. I do wonder why some members seem somewhat like (simile not a metaphor or accusation) broken records and attack other members? The topic or reason of the attack as of late seems to be VFP vs Dot NET. From there at least one of the supporters of the attack likes to insult others, which leads to a not enjoyable experience.

Why cannot the Dot NET evangelists do his/her technology conversion from his/her own pulpit? That is creating posts on the Dot NET area of the UT to discuss the value of Dot NET. “I was a VFP developer and then I saw the light, and it was good”!

Why do the Dot NET evangelists come to the VFP forum to aggravate others? Why is nothing done against his/her actions?

I can see the UT management getting messages from UT’ers about what is thought to be improper conduct by other UT members. Them against us! This could become a range war. It would appear that there is a path that a child would take. Accuse behind the scenes. I did not do it – the Teddy Bear did! Blame someone else is always a good way to deflect blame. Become a UT policeman and clean out Dodge City!

There has to be a way to solve this issue. Consideration for others is just one way to reduce this problem.

Tom
