The others have given you some excellent ideas. Another thing you can do is "play" with the samples in the VFP help system
There is also a great general book by Menachem Bazian,
(Special Edition) Using Visual FoxPro 6 (from Que) that A's to Z's the rudiments of almost all the features, including automation and classes. It's old - granted - but it reads easy and has plenty of practice samples.

Course work is great - but there is no substitute for writing code. To understand how to develop integrated apps it always helps to fool around with commercial packages (QB comes to mind) and then try to imulate their behaviors and presentation.
ABove all else - one has to burn in that e-prom - and that means write, write and write else we wind up living in a van down by the river*g*.
