I have no children either, but if I remember correctly, I once was one. My parents did not interrogate me about my doings when I was in my mid to late teens. They did trust me, and I honestly believe that is at least partly responsible for the fact that (as far as I can tell), I did not turn out to be a moral deviant. Certainly the most important factor was that they instilled certain values in me before that age by the way they behaved, and the way they treated me.

Had I felt at that age that my parents did not trust me; who knows, things might have turned out differently.

We didn't have the internet, but my folks did not follow me into every store that might have sold magazines, they didn't insist on going to the movies with me, and they did not smell my breath whenever I came into the house. Nor did they insist on a chaperone for these activities.

Like the other Al, I suppose my experience of having been a child of parents means to you that I have no personal experience that would allow me do discuss this either, but I respectfully disagree.
