Thanks for the tip on filetostr(). In the process of hooking this up to work through a class, I discovered one of my problems was that I assumed inserting HTML text into an outlook message would insert the HTML tags in the background, but from what I can tell now, it simply strips the HTML of all the tags and drops the text into the message, resulting in the poor formatting. When I composed the e-mail message using west wind client tools and sent via SMTP (putting the html file as a string into the body) the message was formatted perfectly. However, as soon as I tried to reply or forward this message, the HTML was converted into text, messing up the format again. Do you have any idea about what is going on with Outlook (or other mail clients) when working with HTML files? It would be ideal to keep the format of the html message the same, regardless of what the user does with it.

Thanks,
