Thanks! Great idea!

Next problem:

The listbox is on a page in a pageframe. I only want the list to be visible if there are records in the list; the rest of the info on the page should be visible regardless of the number of items in the list.

I tried putting the following line into the 'visible property' of the listbox:

this.listcount > 0

but the listbox shows up even when it's empty...what did I do wrong?
