John,

>Never said I did. I answered a post directly attacking my lack of help. That's all.

I don't see exactly how this quote below jives at all with your sentence above:

>There was a serious question about VFP and word 2003 interop here last week. What was the help? Squat, zippo, nada. That's what I'm talking about. I have talked at length with the poster off of this forum and the only help he got was "its a compile tim problem, don't worry about it". I have great respect for the person that posted that answer, but it was so far off the mark, it wasn't helpful.

You called that in to support your position. From what you said you helped the person offline of here on the UT, which in getting the person's problem solved is great, but from the overall community standpoint it's bad, because curent thread followers and future searchers won't find the answer, it'll have to be re-invented.

>You should read all the messages in the thread before you jump in on one in particular

I've read as much of the thread as I have stomach or time for.

Hugo states an opinion, you call him on the carpet to prove his "usefulness" to the forum and I was just pointing out that you don't have a strong leg to stand on from that perspective. A simple click on your name, a click on the messages button, and scrolling through the last several months of your posts pretty much supports Hugo's noise ratio claim.
