Thanks for all your suggestions in this thread. I enjoyed reading the evolution of your responses varying from (paraphrased) "you're sh-t out of luck" :) to "look at this cool way to do it".

Your button demo gave me a lot of ideas. What I like about this approach is that it still provides a tab like interface where issues of too many tabs and too little space don't apply. The other cool thing about your button approach is that you can give your tabs a Picture in addition to a caption.
