Thanks for confirming what I'm seeing. I was going to say thanks for confirming I'm not crazy, but that would an entirely different thread :)

I was hoping I had mistakenly tweaked a grid property that was the cause of this behavior. On the outside chance that it would make a difference, I've tried toggling VFP 9's new grid Optimize property between True and False without any change in behavior.

I'm currently studying Cetin's SET KEY suggestion ... worse case I'll go back to using a seperate cursor that I have to refresh. A pain for sure, but not the worst thing in the world, either.
