>I typically work on a client machine. Over the last few weeks, the server response is getting continually slower. In now takes about 30 seconds for the server to open the Database folder for the first time. If I have the taskpad view turned on, it takes about 10+ seconds for that to come up, even if I was just there, clicked somewhere else and then came back.

Rollin,
The first thing I would check is Windows performance monitor. Look at the CPU usage and you will see the bottleneck.
