I think you've hit on the biggest problem with the UT in general, which unfortunately hits at the very heart of what's wrong with VFP when held up against Java, .Net, etc.

The level of technical discourse on the UT is very, very, very low when compared with other forums. The trend has been the same, especially over the last several years. Someone asks a question / makes a statement, that leads contains or leads to a mention of accomplishing a task with another language. Then it's brought up how so-and-so thinks the other language acomplishes the task more efficiently....end of technical discussion.

That was at the root of all of JVP's problems. As soon as any technical argument he made was attacked, or he was attacked for making the argument, he would take it to the next level. There was plenty of room back in the days of VB6 to discuss how data access was handled thru ADO, but the discussion wasn't allowed to proceed to far.

Now, the same scene is played over and over. There are those of us who know we must learn, that is the nature of the beast of IT. Yet I don't feel the UT is a good place for those type of discussions. As I mentioned before, you are one of the few left here who can capably carry on a discussion a at level higher then "how to display a grid". Unfortunately, I think this might also reflect on the general nature of the VFP developer, and why we are the ugly stepchild.
