>> I note today that one poster said VFP 9 sales were up.
>
>Just to clarify (which I already did in that thread.). The reseller you refer to is FoxToolbox.com, and they referred to their sales of VFP 9.0 as a reseller. They do not speak for the sales of VFP 9.0 world-wide for Microsoft which has little to do and often no relation to one reseller's sales of a product.

Don't know [quite] what to do with your characterization of your response to that thread. Should I feel positive, negative or indifferent? It might be a safe bet to assume that there are a bunch of entrenched xBase legacy apps in markets outside the "enterprise". Versions might run a spread from dBase III to VFP 9. Example - Dell is using some DOS FP services for their internet catalog. ACCPAC (and maybe ABBRA) are doing great. There are a bunch of exciting VFP niche apps out there.

xBase - in all it's flavors - is all over the place.

If MS threw fox away tomorrow - the day after there would a substitute from shops where margins are not strained by marketing policies and engineering is allowed to focus on a managable basket of products. Remember when we were all excited about VFP / wine on UNIX - that would have done more for us than a zillion conversion seminars! Now we're in seminar central 24/7.

But all that aside - your company (your company's engineers anyway:-) have created some of the highest quality, and most exciting and liberating products of our time. Nothing lasts forever. But at least, we made the show!
