Thanks. Actually, the 'type' field wasn't that helpful; they all say 'PREFW'. The record I changed had 'REPORTTOOLS' in the id field.

Also I had to turn 'Use resource file' off before I was able to get to the FOXUSER.DBF.

Probably the more elegant way would be to control this via the new VFP9 capability of manipulating the report environment at design time, but that's beyond me right now.

Once again, thanks; that seems to work.

>Make sure the correct toolbars are open the way you want when you close the report. Then either mark the entire Foxuser.dbf (or whatever if you renamed the resource file) is marked as readonly, or open the resource file and mark the appropriate records for the toolbars as readonly, they're not hard to find (look at the type and id fields) and there's a ReadOnly field that you'll just mark as .T. You don't say whether this is for your development machine or an application you are distributing, if it's the latter then send along a copy of your modified Foxuser.dbf and Foxuser.fpt files with the app and set the resource to them in your config.fpw or main.prg The toolbars will come up as you intended and will be unaffected by whether the user/developer closed them last time before they closed the report.
