I can't reproduce this. In tracing the code, I found that the path is retrieved by the GetFreeTablePath method in SDTMgr. That method hasn't changed much since SDT 5.1j, except to handle null values in 6.2, which shouldn't be an issue here. I suggest tracing that method to see what path it's using and why.
