Terry, thanks for your reply buy it doesn´t seem to work either with mychkbox.BackStyle= 1 (opaque) or mychkbox.BackStyle= 0 (transparent).

I think I'll have to change the icon shown as Borislav suggested depending on the state using the .DownPicture property!
