>>How can a reasonable technical discussion on the pluses and minuses of different technologies be carried on with you when you make statements like: "But millions of developers fall into the "what you don't know can't hurt you" category."

The context is VFP's autospanning local datasets. It's something that all those millions of developers who know nothing about VFP/dBase won't know about. What they don't know... won't hurt them. They won't miss it. They won't even care about it. But according to MS they're about to get it. At which point IMHO we'll see quite a lot of interest in the idea. That's the context of the above quote.

>>There's obviously numerous folks from the UT who moved to .Net. I just don't see them making posts that they are going to resume their fulltime VFP career because .Net is just not usable...

I don't think anybody said dotNET is unusable... did I miss that post?

>>There's a study group started here in LA for the .Net certification. Several of the VFP guys I work with are part of the group. Not one has complained that using .Net is a waste of time because it's missing too many features.

See above.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
