Are you getting an error, if so what? Do you know if its a problem connecting to the server or security on the server? The error mesage should give you some idea on this.

Firstly, I would check the enabled server and client protocols to ensure you are compatible. (Client Network Utility and Network Server Utility)

Check security, are you using trusted connection or SQL Server authentication? Which ever your using try the other. Maybe try by connecting through a UDL file (or anything outside EM).

Just some thoughts, let me know how it goes.

>Typically, I support our product and server (SQL 2000) remotely from our office via a vpn to connect enterprise manager and my red-gate tools to compare and update database files. This site, I could not connect to using the vpn, although I can remote desktop into it. The sql server is utilizing the default port. I thought it might be a firewall issue, but now I'm on site, and plugged into their network and still cannot connect using enterprise manager. If I remote desktop into the actual server, enterprise manager runs fine, and sql server is running.

>The only difference at this site, is that the server has two network cards, it's a hp server, and they are using the hp team manager to use both cards. I'm no network/hardware person, so I don't know if this really makes a difference.
