Thanks for your reply.

Type csv does not work with the 'Export To' command giving a syntax error. It does work with the 'Copy To' command but again, when the Excel 2000 user opens the file and then attempts to close it, there is yet another very confusing dialog (different from those I referred to in my initial post), "MyFile.csv may contain features that are not compatible with CSV. Do you want to keep the workbook in this format?"

My users are not going to know what to do when they see these kinds of dialogs.

Others have suggested using Automation which I may end up doing.
