>>>>Is your name Jay or Renoir?
>>>
>>>A long, long time ago, when I first started at UT, I used a nickname, not my given name. I was not aware that this was wrong at the time, and in haydays of JVP, it became an issue. It's well documented in other threads. If you do a search you will probably find much more information that you really want, but that's the gist of it. Oh, and whenever some gets really peeved at me, they will bring that whole thing up again. Tracy is not one of those people. She uses it because that's what she has always called me.
>>
>>I don't recall seeing the threads you mention. You still don't say what your name is but from Tracy's message I assume it's Jay. I prefer to know who I'm talking with, especially when referring to that person in "3rd party" messages.

>With all the names thrown around this place, I doubt whether I'm called Jay or Renoir is really much of an issue. Plus, you can always look up at my name in the header. I don't get the 3rd party thing your talking about though.
3rd party as in, I'm sending a message to someone other than you, but I want to refer to something I said to you, or you said to me. It would be confusing if I said "Jay and I discussed ..." and your name was not actually Jay.
