Let me tell you of my experience using VB.NET vs C#. VB.NET let me do many interesting things and it worked withougt throwing an error. C# threw errors when I compiled and did not let me get away with anything! :)

My conclusion:

VB.NET lets you do what you want.
C# demands you do it correctly.
