MVP is given for past efforts and in no way requires someone to hold the MS line...and yes, I saw the smiley in your post.
As Martin pointed out, even MS talks about other technologies. Last week I was at an MSDN event where the MS presenter not only said Linux but booted and showed it as well. See my blog
