>I'm just aware that whatever is proposed, or put into place, everyone involved would be looking for loopholes in it... so my reflex is to think how to circumvent them from the outset. So if your elected representative is running a virtual office, I want to know how can I know who's actually running that office. The problem of virtual personae.

Ah, I see.

Yes, I agree that loopholes should be saught, but ask yourself, who runs the White House? Karl Rove to be exact, not the guy we voted for.

On the other hand you can make the argument that if you voted for Bush you voted for his political advisor too, so you, for practical purposes, voted for Karl Rove.

The same thing here. If some ugly guy manipulates a handsome guy to be his puppet, gets him to run for Senate, manages to get him elected, and then does alot of things from the Senate floor that the public loves, and thus, manages to stay behind the thrown, then I think the public wins, even if the name on the office door doesn't represent who's really in control.

The idea is getting better results.

Most party politicians aren't really in control anyways, since they have a powerful body to stay in favor with.
