I've been experimenting with the MSMAPI Session and Message active-x controls and have had limited success.
The MSMapi controls give you control over MS Exchange. Not that I really want control over it, I just want to send it an e-mail and a fax and let the software take care of the rest.
Anyway I've been able to e-mail/fax messages but here are some of the problems:
1. don't know how to change fonts of the messages (not really important for e-mail but sucks if you can't do that for a fax).
2. cannot send without a message. Makes sense that it works this way because what is there to send if you don't have a message. When you're faxing you may just want to send an attachment rather than a message. Any message you send goes on a brand new page. I don't know if there's a way to stick the message on the cover page to spare the recipient from a page with virtually nothing on it.
You can download a sample fax/e-mail program from the win32api section. I haven't looked at it yet so I don't know what it has in it. I've written a wrapper class to use the MSMapi controls if you're interested in it despite the two problems mentioned above.
I've downloaded the Winfax SDK and I'm trying to fiddle around with it to see if I can get the desired results using winfax.
I'd be more than happy to help you on your way with the MAPI stuff. The more people doing this, the better the chances of me finding out how to solve the above problems.
