>I am wondering that with the release of VFP 5.0 any 'real' VFP programmer will have a need to use VB for ANYTHING? VB used is a great coding platform & has good connection to APIs, etc. But with the release of VFP 5 does VFP have at least that much power if not more?

well, I never used VB IMHO as for general programming that involves need for GUI prototyping Delphi is the better choice
also (as mike said) VFP can directly work (and create) DLLs Integration
with other programs is much easier e.g. use VFP to manage the DB
use C++/Delphi to do number crunching tasks
