The last 2 Windows Updates that I did (1 10 days ago or so, one yesterday) both had Windows Installer updates.
I wonder if the user might have installed them?... And that they might be implicated?
good luck
>Thanks for the information. I have researched Inno in the past but we won't switch because the 'powers that be' chose the package a long time ago and it has only happened once (with over hundreds of updates), but once is too many. Regardless of messages to close all other apps and to install from a workstation and not on the server, the user will still blame us because he thinks that we control the computer and cause it to reboot without any prompt.

>>I've seen this happen also. I don't think its Wise intentionally causing a reboot, I think its a side effect of what's being installed causing Windows to "pseudo crash" resulting in a reboot.

>>Have you looked at InnoSetup? InnoSetup is a free install generator that produces a small, high quality setup. There are sample scripts on the Wiki. Highly recommended.
