Thanks for your explanation and reassurance. I think my confusion was that I was getting a pure DIB stream that I could use without conversion. As you point out, this is not the case. So, what I'm getting is a BITMAPINFO (BI) structure.

I'll return to your MSDN post and work out the specifics.
