That's the impression I have too. Instead of one thick slice with less crust and more toppings you get two thin slices. That equals to more crust and less topings.

I guess that crust is less expensive than toppings <g>

But in the end it all relates to what we want. If we want to enjoy good food then we can go to a finer place. If the main goal is to feed oneself as quick and as cheap as possible than those places fit right in.
