Hi Apple,
I have a 2.6 program that works very well on Windows XP. Just set the number of files in the \windows\system32\config.nt instead of config.sys.
Also look at
www.tamedos.com. This interups the hardware requests for keyboard input and tell the application to wait. Without it your cpu usage will be very high for the dos app.
The biggest problem I have had was with printing. If your printer driver does not capture lpt output then you will have to setup a network printer and capture using the Net Use command (eg Net Use Lpt1: \\Server\Printer)
There is also a good book at
http://www.hentzenwerke.com on legecy apps.
