>Thanks for thr reply, Al. Your mention of a least squares fit is one direction I am considering. What is up in the air is whether to mung the data in VFP or automate Excel. The feature creep is already out of control on this one, I'm afraid.

Linear least-squares fit is straightforward to do in Fox, I did it a few years back. I can probably dig up the code if it would help.
