Hi Martin,

I read UT Mag with a great interest. I like Erik's articles about .NET, I liked very much your last article and shared it with our colleagues, I found other great material as well...

BTW, I may ask some materials on Russian forum www.foxclub.ru AFAIK there was (or currently held) a big Russian VFP conference...

>>{snip}...is there a way to submit VFP content for possible inclusion in UTM? And would additional VFP content of merit be well received by UTM, or have you got all the VFP content that you want at the moment? Perhaps there is a link to author materials and information that I've missed somewhere?

>Absolutely! I'd be glad to receive article proposals, and I'm always looking for new content. Indeed, I have tons of .NET content available, and instead good VFP content is getting harder and harder to get (I guess David Stevenson could witness the same fact). But I'm working with a few bright fellows, helping them write down their experiences.

>And I invite you and anyone else willing to write about VFP or any related technology to contact me with ideas. Remember our magazine is published monthly and read by hundreds of developers worldwide in English, Spanish and Portuguese, so it is a good way to share your knowledge and projects.

>Just for the record, here is a short list I made for another reader about the regular content we published over this year. Included are all the main articles, not the monthly columns:
>
>May
>Inside the Control Panel (VFP)
>Agile and XP (generic, although contemplating VFP)
>Google API (.NET)
>
>April
>Reading email...3 (VFP)
>Extreme OOP 3 (VFP)
>FileSystem Watcher (.NET)
>
>March
>Remoting VFP, from Mazzarinno (VFP)
>Extreme OOP 2, from me (VFP)
>Stonefield Query, by van Diest (VFP)
>Default Printer (.NET)
>Messagebox API (.NET)
>
>February
>Firebird (VFP)
>Large XML (VFP)
>Extreme OOP 1, from me (VFP)
>Reading email ...2 (VFP)
>Multi-column Combobox (.NET)
>Software validation (generic, contemplating VFP apps)
>
>January
>Reading email ...1 (VFP)
>Subclassing .NET Form Controls (.NET for VFP developers)
>DateTimePicker (.NET)
>
>As you can see, the only month in which we actually have more .NET content was January, and that was related to an unusual shortage (something sadly common near holidays). What's more important, though, is that beside the article count, VFP articles are regularly the longer ones.
>
>That said, I have to point out that UT Mag is not a VFP-only publication, and it has never been (see the cover for our first issue, June 2001). We think that the highest value we can provide is having a balance of content, and the feedback we got by email and in our yearly survey shows that readers are mostly from a VFP background but always interested in .NET, SQL Server and a few other technologies. In this sense, we don't feel like a competition to FoxTalk or FoxPro Advisor. Our content tries to reflect the interests of the the whole UT community, and that means a lot VFP, and then other stuff.
>
>I'd really like to gather more feedback about this issue, so I'd be glad to hear from our actual or potential readers.
>
>Best regards,
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
