I have Programming Microsoft ASP.NET (C#) by Dino Esposito. I find it very deep into "how things work under the hood." I don't understand half of it so for you it will be very easy.
And I have Programming ASP.NET by Jessy Liberty which is also very good, more practical and easy to follow.
I started ASP.NET with ASP.NET Unleashed by Stephen Walther - this, IMO, is the best as far as beginner understanding. Great book and it is in VB.NET.
