I don't know for VFP 6, but I had similar problems with VFP 8 installation. I resolved this by starting the setup of the prerequisites directly from it's subfolder on the CD. I don't remember the name of the folder however :(

It gets worse, all email history in my email files were wiped as was my address book and "Favorites" in IE.

I was able to get VFP 6.0 to go through the reinstall process but when I launch it I get "Resource File Version Mismatch". When I try to reinstall VFP 8.0 I get a screen telling me that it is missing "Prerequisites" and it cannot proceed. I have gone to the Microsoft Web Site and it is silent on VFP 8.0 Prerequisites.
