>>>e.g. "Milan were way ahead but, at the end of the day, Liverpool won"

>>>What a useless, mindless expression.

>>Hmm, I liked last example:) Congratulations for the big win. It was a fantastic game and unbelievable comeback (you wouldn't believe around 50th minute despite the commentator I believed Liverpool had the capacity for a comeback:)
>>It'd be a pity if Liverpool couldn't make it especially after that clear penalty!

>Thanks Cetin. What a roller-coaster! The goal in the 1st minute - I thought "Well if Milan are going to get just one goal in the match, better it's in the 1st minute than the last!". From despair to elation. Who'd've believed it? Historic!

Terry;

The announcers on ESPN Cable television said that the three points scored by Liverpool were the fastest three ever scored. That may be the case but in my book requires qualification! Not to take steam out of Liverpool’s whistle but I was thinking of George (Georgie) Best, when he played for the San Jose Earthquakes. He scored three goals within 90 seconds of playing time and I saw it!

I like Pele and George Best. July 4th 1977 at the Los Angeles Coliseum the Aztecs (represented by George Best) and the New York Cosmos (represented by Pele) were playing a game of Soccer. I took a number of photographs and one I love is of George Best and Pele both flying through the air in a horizontal position feet first towards a ball about 6 feet in the air. Each one was about 3 feet from the ball when I snapped the photo. Pele got there first!

The Cosmos had just acquired Franz Beckenbauer (Captain of the 1974 World Cup Champions from Germany. Beckenbauer did not play that day as he had just arrived by plane from Germany moments before the game started. Beckenbauer sat the game out just below where we were sitting.

Perhaps Soccer will one day be popular in the United States as it is in the rest of the world, but I would not hold my breath on that one! :)
