Lincoln,
Go to your Tool/Options menu, and look at the DATA tab. There is a combo box for Locking & Buffering. Be sure it is set to 'OFF'. This should allow you to update data directly from the command window without having to issue a TableUpdate() command

Sylvain's suggestion about Buffering and TableUpdate() in your form sounds correct, also.

>I'm using VFP5.0. My database consists of a dozen or so tables, numerous free tables(used to populate comboboxes mostly), and a few forms, of which the central data entry form consists of an 8-page pageframe. The form works fine with two exceptions both involving grids which do not allow data to be saved. At least one of these grids is virtually identical to several others on the form which work just fine. The entries made in these grids appear on the form even when the record pointer is moved, however, when I quit VFP and re-enter the data is gone. Even when I try to input the data directly to the tables using browse and append from the main VFP menu the data disappears when I exit and re-enter. Please help. Thanks --lincoln
