Thanks for the ideas Lynn.

>I have millions of records to deal with so I make a select first with the filtered criteria I need (faster if the fields are indexed)..usually a record identifier and any other identifying fields then use the record set to make the scan. If I have to do an update I update one record at a time within the scan so as not to put a heavy load onto the server.
