IE should do. I never use it (instead I directly use Shell.Explorer and deliver nothing special).
Yes there is a way to save changes and even use full word features. If you want to prevent it you'd need extra things like eventhandler. IOW it's like you're navigating to a word doc from your web browser (just showing in a form).
If your intent is to give ability to do anything with doc I suggest you instead to use createobject('word.application') or Shellexecute.
