OK. I get it now. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I am not a fan and did not follow them religiously to the leter, though I did see them all in the sequence in which they were shown.

Palpatine gets disfigured in a fight and shows he's the Emperor with his new disfigured face, which was seen before in previous movies that occurred in time *after* this one (like Empire Strikes back or one of those older ones). Right so far?

If that is so, and he gets disfigured in this last movie, why is he shown disfigured in Attack of The Clones which immediately precedes this one? Is it because he can change his face at will and I somehow missed that explanation? Or is it because the script is awful and they don't even spend the money for somebody to check on continuity issues as most studios normally do? Inquiring minds would like to know.
